Deaf and Hard of Hearing:
There are two groups that students with hearing loss can be divided into. ‘Deaf’ with a capital ‘D’ refers to people who identify with the Deaf community and culture and use Auslan as their first language; and ‘deaf’, ‘hearing impaired’, or ‘hard of hearing’ who experience various degrees of hearing loss.
