Assessment:
Assessment is a key component in monitoring student achievement and is crucial in reflecting on the effectiveness of a program or unit of work for the educator.
The purpose of assessment is for teachers to gather data and evidence that students have/have not achieve syllabus outcomes, providing the opportunity to find out, where the students are and where to take them to next, also while providing the opportunity to reflect of where they have come from in previous assessments.
Each Program of Unit of Work must include an Assessment component. Assessment Model:
More specific to K-6 educators, the following link provides more support in terms of Assessment Strategies on Teacher Observation, Peer and Self Assessment and Assessing Collaborative Activities. Inquiry-Based Learning is being introduced into more and more schools within New South Wales, therefore, on this link there are also Assessment Strategies for Inquiry-Based Learning Tasks, giving both examples of activities and assessment opportunities for these activities.
