Environmental Education Centre:
The Environmental Education Centre is a great website that offers suggestions of excursions for students in K-6, students with special needs and provides risk assessment guidelines and different outcomes that can be addressed within these excursions. The excursions are based on the Illawarra Area, however offers suggestions that may be adapted to your area.

Procedures:
There are many procedures that can be found through the Department of Education's Intranet. A list of these have been provided, as they are not accessible unless you have access to the portal (you can search these documents through your school's or the DoE portal):
- Application for Excursion: You must apply to your school Principal or Deputy Principal to take students on an excursion.
- Risk Management Process and Proforma: This provides information on the process to be taken when considering risk assessments, and a template that can be filled in to address all aspects of the risk assessment.
- Parent or Caregiver Information and consent form: Parents and caregivers need to be informed of any excursions, the permission notes include information on prices, dates, permission, and why the excursion will be beneficial for their child's learning.

Risk Assessment:
Below is an example of a Risk Management Form provided by the IEEC. This is for an excursion to Killalea State Park and outlines the hazards/risk areas, what the hazards and risks are and the measure that are going to be taken to eliminate and control these hazards. The size of your Risk Management Form will vary from excursion to excursion and must comply with the Department's Policies. It is advised that you ask a colleague for advice when approaching your first excursion, for more in depth advice.
